How I work

I provide high-end academic provision for Economics students at school and university.

I work with a small number of students, so I am able to give them my full attention and can ensure they get the time that they need. My aim is that students make the best possible progress and families I advise receive the best possible advice. I ensure I don't take on too many students, so that each student and family is able to receive my full attention. This may mean that, at times, I am fully booked but might be able to add you to a waiting list.

I am a qualified teacher with 12 years' teaching experience at two of the top academic UK day schools: St. Paul's School, London and Magdalen College School, Oxford. The majority of the pupils I have taught have gone on to achieve A/A* at A-Level.

I also support university applications to top universities, including a number to Oxford and Cambridge each year.

I have 10+ years experience of tutoring and advising families, both UK based and internationally.

I work entirely online, using Google Meet and OneNote. OneNote means students can keep all their notes in one place. I will happily share access to the OneNote with parents. I tend to set homework weekly, which I mark and give detailed feedback on in order to maximise students' progress.

I travel to London regularly, with the aim of meeting parents, carers and guardians. I fully appreciate that although working online works well, in-person relationships are an important foundation. If you plan to be in Oxford or London and have time to meet, please let me know and, if my schedule allows for it, I would be very happy to come and meet you for coffee.

I meet most students for between one and two hours a week. Some students may need more time, sometimes only for a short number of weeks, to help them get up to speed quickly. For some students, for example those for whom I am supporting a university application, I may meet less regularly.

I send monthly updates to parents, carers or guardians, or more regularly if needed. If something is awry - students are not making progress or are not completing set work - I will notify parents or guardians immediately.

I don’t outsource. Your child will meet with me and only me. The only exceptions are for specifically arranged one off sessions, for example arranging a mock interview with someone that is unfamiliar to the student

I don’t agree to work with all the pupils and families I get requests from. Most of my clients come from recommendations and I am very busy. The tutor/pupil relationship needs to be a working relationship in which I feel I can add value. I also need to ensure I can devote enough time to my existing clients, so I will not take on pupils if I don't have time to give them my full attention.

My fees reflect the quality I offer. I am a very experienced Economics teacher and tutor and your child will be receiving some of the best possible Economics tutoring.
